Holiday Giving 2020

In previous years, we have hosted "Toy Towne," our holiday giving program where the children and adults AWAIC serves receive new toys and other gifts provided by our generous community.

Due to COVID-19, this year we have made some changes to our holiday giving program. In order to keep our staff and participants safe and healthy, we will not be accepting in-person toy donations this year. We need to limit the foot traffic into the shelter as much as possible.

This year we have created two VIRTUAL opportunities for you to help bring holiday cheer to families impacted by domestic violence! We are collecting e-gift cards to distribute among the families we serve AND we have updated our Amazon Wishlist with cozy winter clothing, essential toiletries, and fun accessories for our shelter residents.

Choose from these two ways to get involved:

#1: E-Gift Card Drive

Gift cards empower moms to choose the perfect present for their child, like the Lego set their son has been eyeing for months or accessories for their daughter in her favorite color!

We are requesting e-gift cards at the retailers below in the amount of $25 only, so we can split them up equally among the families we serve. You are welcome to purchase as many $25 gift cards as you would like! We hope to distribute several gift cards to each family. Please make sure to choose the e-gift card option and email it to

Old Navy
Best Buy
Barnes & Noble

Please email all e-gift cards by Friday, December 18 so we can distribute them to participants in time for the holidays!

#2: Amazon Wishlist

Our Amazon Wishlist is up-to-date with our most urgent needs in the emergency shelter, including warm winter clothing and hygiene items. We also recently added some special holiday gift items, like fuzzy holiday socks, robes, face masks, make-up, flannel pajamas, and more! All items will be delivered directly to AWAIC and distributed among our participants.

We will miss seeing all of our wonderful donors this year. This difficult decision is necessary in order to protect our staff and participants. Our top priority is limiting exposure to COVID-19 so that we are able to keep our emergency shelter open and operating 24/7. We must keep our doors open and have staff available to serve those in imminent danger due to domestic violence.

If you have any questions about holiday giving this year, please email our Development team at Thank you in advance for helping make the holiday season bright and joyful for survivors of domestic violence!
