Holiday Giving

Toy Towne

Christmas is a magical time of the year, where we realize the true blessings in our lives and the potential to share with others. Last year with the help of our community, AWAIC was able to ensure that over 300 individuals who receive services were able to have a nice Christmas. It seems like such a small thing to us but for children it conveys so much more. During difficult times, it's nice to be reminded of hope and every day magic that still exists. We are currently in need of generous donors who would be able to help bring the magic back.

Please call Corrine at (907) 743-5752 or Joel at (907) 743-5708 to find our how you can help!

Office Food Drive

Get together and compile all of the fixings for a fabulous holiday meal. And baking items (spices, flour, sugar) are always appreciated. In addition to canned foods, prepackaged stuffing and commercial desserts are always welcome. Remember, canned goods last throughout the year!

For questions about food donations, please contact Heidi at (907) 743-5731 or send her a message.

Office Gift Drive

Office gift drives are a fun way to engage your staff or co-workers in a team-building project to get everyone in the holiday spirit. Some companies have donated a portion of their holiday party budget for gifts or have organized gift drives as part of their holiday celebrations.

For more information on corporate giving, please contact Caitlin at (907) 743-5727 or send her a message.

Baby, It’s Cold Outside

Brrr…it’s cold out there! We always need warm winter coats, snowpants and boots, hat and mitten sets, scarves and warm socks. Do a drive in your office or group to collect winter gear that will benefit our shelter residents throughout the winter.

The Gift of Choice

Sometimes the best gift we can give a shelter resident is the gift of giving in and of itself. If violence hadn't interrupted their lives, shelter residents would be at their own home, trimming their tree, lighting their Menorah or engaging in their family's special traditions. For most people, that would also include shopping and choosing the perfect gift for their children. Consider organizing a gift certificate drive and give the gift of choice. Some suggestions for gift cards include Old Navy and Best Buy, Fred Meyer, Wal-Mart, Target, Dimond Mall and the 5th Avenue Mall.

Holiday Volunteering. Help Wrap Gifts for Families

Holiday Gift Wrappers are needed in December. Individuals and groups encouraged to sign up. This is a fun and easy way to support families in crisis due to domestic violence.
